We are delighted to be linking up with Wye Valley Walks to bring you our very own Wye Valley Tour.
The Wye Valley tour become popular in the late 1700-mid 1800s getting to its peak during the Napoleonic war. People would tour down the Wye from Ross to Chepstow taking in historic sites such as Tintern Abbey and the Kymin in Monmouth, where they could take in the fantastic views over Monmouth and surrounding area .
We have built on this to bring you a day of adventure in Monmouth. We will hike up and over the Kymin, enjoy a riverside lunch followed by a SUP lesson on the River Wye.
If you have a private group we can organise a day or weekend adventure to suit you and your group. Get in touch for more information and let us help you create the perfect adventure.
tHE hiKE
Our hike will start at 10am by the Monmouth Rowing Club. We will then start to walk along the river learning about the history of Monmouthshire. We will ascend up the back of the Kymin where we can enjoy sunning views across Monmouth.
At the top we will stop to enjoy the views and have tea and snacks.
It’s roughly 6 mile hike taking around 3 hours (with breaks) It’s low level with an accent to the Kymin many parts are flat / downhill for the rest of the walk.
tHE mUNCH
We will head back to the river for a delicious lunch. We will have dips and pitta breads followed by a burger and salad. There will be plenty of tea and coffee available and soft drinks.
After the paddle we will sit back relax and enjoy some delicious s’moores or cake around with hot chocolate, tea or coffee, while we chat about our days adventures.
tHE sup
After lunch we will take you through the basics on land, looking at how to stand the different paddle strokes and how to stay safe on the water.
You will then jump on the water with a qualified SUP instructor and enjoy a paddle up the river while watching out for kingfishers and herons.
Your instructor will be on hand to give you tips to improve your SUP techniques or will get the group together to play some games.
